Are you or anyone you know caring for a friend or loved one?

Herefordshire Carers Support’s Groups welcome all unpaid Carers in Herefordshire to come along and meet other Carers and access information and support which might help them in their caring role.

We run a variety of events and trips across Herefordshire and even if you are not yet registered as a Carer with Herefordshire Carers Support please don’t let that put you off; this can easily be done at the group, online via our website or over the phone on 01432 356068.

Once registered, you will receive your “I Count” card which can be used to get discounts on a range of products, services and entrance charges and our quarterly “Keeping in Touch“ magazine which offers tips and up-to-date information.

Carers in Ledbury meet from 1.30pm – 3.30pm on the first Tuesday of each month at Shaw Health Care Leadon Bank, Orchard Lane, Ledbury, Herefordshire HR8 1BY.

Monthly groups are a great way to meet other Carers. Groups offer Carers a chance to; make new friends, gain information and advice, socialise and have a listening ear at a regular meeting place.

Ledbury Support Group PROGRAMME 2016

This month Carers will be looking at Contingency Planning.

Carers UK have highlighted that 96% of carers are worried about how they would cope with unexpected events. They say that often they don’t take part in social events in case ‘something happens and they can’t get back’.
With all the other pressures on Carers, it is not easy to find the time to sit and think through who could be called on in case of an emergency, or to ensure that the right information is available to someone stepping into your shoes on a temporary basis.
Herefordshire Carers Support can help you to draw up a contingency plan that works for you and gives the reassurance of knowing that arrangements can be put in place to at least hold the fort in case of your unexpected absence.

The course will cover:

  1. What is a Contingency Plan?
  2. What type of emergencies may need a contingency plan?
  3. How does the Emergency Card fit in?
  4. What information do you need to complete a Contingency Plan?
  5. What do you do if you have no-one to put onto your Contingency Plan?
  6. Does your GP know you are a Carer?
