The Children & Families Act 2014 is the most important legislation for over 30 years. It introduces the following changes which take effect from September 2014:
- The Council must publish a Local Offer of help for families
- The Council must listen to Parent Carers and children’s views on the help they get and involve them in decisions
- Statements will be replaced with a new Education, Health and Care or EHC plan
- Support for children with an EHC Plan can run from 0 to 25 years if it needs to
- Parents can ask the council to give them their own Personal Budget
